Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a very light touch technique. In fact, the maximum pressure used is about the weight of a nickel. In a nutshell, CST works to release restrictions in the connective tissue that surrounds the spinal cord and brain all the way from the head (cranio) to the hips (sacral) and everything in between. These restrictions can cause us a whole lot of pain, but in an ironic twist of fate they are best released through light sustained pressure. Most people experience deep relaxation during a CST session, and many experience a lessening of pain as well. Since several causes of hip and low back pain involve the sacrum in one way or another, as well as the back and shoulders, CST is a great technique to release some of the restrictions that may be causing your pain.
